Planning a wedding can sound intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. The ten steps to planning a wedding give you a high-level view of the steps to planning a wedding. The wedding planning list printable at the end of this blog post is a free downloadable planner to use for your wedding.
1. Plan Your Budget
Planning your wedding budget is a key part in planning your wedding. You will need to know how much you are able to spend prior to planning any other details. When you are planning your budget, you will need to make a total budget and then break that budget out into individual amounts for each vendor.
2. Make Your Guest List
It’s time to start making your guest list. Since you have already made your budget, you should have an idea of how many guests you can invite to your big day. You will need to know approximately how many people you will want to invite before you can select wedding venues.
3. Choose Possible Dates
What time of year do you want your wedding to take place? I recommend selecting your favorite season and narrowing down the specific date from there. During this time, you can check out some venues to see if your wedding date works with their calendar.
4. Select Wedding Style & Theme
In this step, you will want to select your wedding style and theme. Think about what you want your wedding to be like. Are you interested in a formal wedding or a relaxed wedding? It’s your day, so do what makes sense to you. If you are stuck and aren’t sure, check out wedding magazines or Pinterest for some great inspiration.
5. Book Venue
Your ceremony and reception venue will be the backdrop for your wedding day. Make sure the venues you select match the overall mood you want on your wedding day. Wedding venues book up rather quickly, so make sure you select your venues as soon as you can.
6. Research (Attire/Vendors)
Researching attire and vendors can be a fun part of your wedding. You get to gather information that inspires you in regards to what your wedding party will wear and also the details of your wedding. Use your decision from step 4 to help you research what the wedding apparel will be.
7. Select Attire
It’s time to select all of the attire for your wedding. Since you have completed step 6, you can now make your final selections for your wedding attire.
8. Interview Vendors
Since you have completed your research on the vendors you might be interested in, it’s time to interview vendors to see what works best for you and your wedding plan.
9. Hire Vendors
Now that you have met with your possible wedding vendors, it’s time to select the vendors that best match your budget, date and mood of your wedding.
10. Finalize Details
Finalizing your wedding details can be on-going up until approximately one month prior to your wedding day.
