Do you ever feel like you don’t have enough time to plan and organize, but you want to? Well, I can help! My three step process below will show you how you can plan to organize. I believe that planning and organizing is like a partnership. They go hand in hand. If you plan, you have to have an organized plan. If you organize something, you have to plan it.
I am so excited to show you my process below. I hope it helps you overcome any challenge you are facing with planning or organizing.
Planning and Organizing Skills
Step 1: Prioritize
This is the most crucial step. If you aren’t able to make something a priority it won’t get done. Have you ever had that project that you’ve been needing to do and you keep putting it off? There is something about that project that doesn’t intrigue you enough to start it. And then, all of a sudden, you wake up and you get that project done? Well, you just made it a priority and so you got it done. I’ve been there several times myself. Sometimes I have done projects or tasks I didn’t want to do and then I finally came around and did it. And I felt so much better that I did! You can do it too! You just need to prioritize your project or task and you will feel the success.
Step 2: Manage Your Time, AKA Time Management
On to step two; manage your time. Make your time work for you. Don’t work for your time. How do you do this? My personal favorite way of managing my time is by having a planner and using it consistently. I make it work for me. It’s amazing how something so basic and uncomplicated can transform our lives. Okay, I know that’s deep, but that’s how I feel. I can’t remember everything, nor do I want to have to. I schedule everything so I give attention to every area of my life. It can help you with managing your time, so you can be your best self. As I am sure you can tell, I am passionate about planning and having a planner. That’s because it works! Start small. Put a few small tasks in your planner and accomplish them and then work your way up to bigger tasks.
Step 3: If Necessary, Delegate
Now that you have made it to step three, it’s time to ask yourself another question. Can I do this task or do I need to delegate it? Delegating work is a great opportunity! Why? Because if there is something you loath or just aren’t savvy at doing then delegating is your best friend. Giving that task to someone else that might be able to shine at doing it is not only helping you, but also helping them. I mean, you don’t do everything with your home right? You might have an electrician, a handy man, a plumber, and the list goes on. Don’t view it as a negative. View it as a positive step to getting yourself where you need to be. Embrace delegating!
You are on your way to effective planning to organize! Make your project a priority and manage your time. Also, delegate as needed. It’s simple and it’s effective. Make it work for you!
