What is Planning?
According to Wikipedia, planning is the process of thinkingΒ about the activities required to achieve a desired goal. Planning is what gets you from thought to reality. With proper planning, you can achieve your goals. Planning is a very powerful tool that can help you move forward with what you want to accomplish in your day and life.
Since we all think differently, we all have different challenges in life. Some might excel at planning and some might not. If you don’t excel at planning, my 4 step process below can get you started on a successful path to planning.
How to Start Planning
Step 1: Pick a Planner That Works for You
I believe that the best way to start planning is to get a planner. There is an abundance of planners to pick from. You will want to look through the planner before you commit to one. Maybe you want a simple planner, or maybe you want a planner that is very detailed. Either way, pick a planner that you will want to look at a lot.
If you aren’t familiar with planners, ease into the process of using a planner. Keep trying to find a planner that works for you and you will be on your way to becoming a great planner.
Step 2: Fill in Key Dates and Reminders
Since the overall purpose of a planner is to help you plan, use your planner to help you. You will have to continue to experiment until you find a system that works best for you.
Enter any key dates, events and important reminders in your planner. This step will be on-going. You will continually have to enter any important information in your planner, in order to keep your planner working for you.
Step 3: Check Your Planner Frequently
The biggest key to successful planning is to continually check your planner. If you don’t look at your plans, you won’t remember what you need to plan for. I suggest having a specific location for your planner, and keep your planner open to ensure maximum use of your planner.
Step 4: Keep Going
Once you have mastered using your planner, keep going. Keep using your planner and checking it frequently. Staying focused on using your planner will keep you on the right path to successful planning.

Conclusion
If you are struggling to plan and accomplish what you want, I highly recommend following the four step process in this post. This process can help you become successful at planning. Good luck!
