What is a Vision Board?
According to The Oprah Magazine, a vision board is a visual representation of your goals. Sounds simple, right? The idea might sound simple, but it can be complicated to put all of your visions on one board. I’m here to help! My five step process will help you to create your vision board with ease.
How do I use a Vision Board?
The purpose of the vision board is so you visualize what you want in your life. By making a visual representation of your goals, you will be able to visualize easier and more frequently. What I mean by that is that if you place your vision board in a location where you will frequently look at it, you will be thinking and visualizing your goals more often.
Steps to Making a Vision Board
I have made a six step process to help you make your vision board. By following these six steps, you will get closer to reaching your goals. It is important to follow each step to help you get the results you want for your vision board.
Step One: Reflect on This Past Year
The first step to making your vision board is to reflect on the past year. What has worked for you? What hasn’t? Where do you want to see changes in your life? My free printable vision board worksheet can help you with this step. Jot down as many notes as you need in order to help you plan better for 2021.
Step Two: Make Goals for Yourself
Use your reflection notes from your free printable and make your goals for 2021. Think of all of the areas in your life that you want to focus on in 2021. For example, you could pick health and fitness, religion, career, education, relationships, travel, family, and several other topics.
Step Three: Gather Images and Words That Reflect What You Want
Now it’s time to gather your visual items for your vision board. You can grab magazines or you can print images you find online. Also, you will want to gather any words that you want to see on your board. These words should be related to your 2021 vision for yourself.
Step Four: Make a Collage on Your Board
Take your images and words you gathered from step three and place them on your board with glue or tape. In this step, place the images and words where you want them. It’s your board, do what makes sense for you.
Step Five: Place Your Vision Board Where You can See it
Make sure you put your vision board in a location that you will see it everyday. For example, I place mine by my bathroom vanity. I do this so that I see it every time I put my makeup on in the morning. Looking at your vision board in the morning is a great way to start your day.
Step Six: Look at Your Vision Board Often
In order to have better odds of your vision board working for your benefit, you will want to look at it often. I look at mine every morning. Think about a time that you could plan to look at your vision board on a daily basis.
Update if Needed
If your vision board needs updates throughout 2021, you can make changes to it. Your goals can change and therefore your board can change. There is no rule on vision board updates. It’s your vision and your board.
I hope my six step vision board process helps you to create the vision board you desire. Let me know in the comments what you are focusing on in the new year!
