Clothes That Spark Joy
As you might already know, Marie Kondo is very tidy. She has a very specific order to follow when tidying items. Marie always instructs her students to be thorough in decluttering clothing. In her tidy method for clothing, Marie’s process is to only keep clothing that spark joy.
There is a process to find out what apparel items you have that spark joy. First, you need to gather all of your clothing items and put them into one pile. If you are like me, and have a lot of clothes, you will want to do separate piles for shirts, shorts, etc… When you have your pile or piles of clothes it’s time to decide what you want to keep or discard.
In Marie’s method, you will need to handle each item to decide if it sparks joy within you. It can be challenging to make the decision to discard clothing items, but if you don’t have a positive feeling for the item, it’s time to let it go. Try not to think of discarding a piece of clothing as being wasteful. If the item is in good shape, donate it. That piece of clothing may spark joy for someone else. That is a win/win situation for you and the other person who will get the item.
