5 Ways to Organize a To-Do List
One: Make it Personal
Make your list functional and also appealing. There are several planners, notebooks and notepads that can help you get started. Find a method that works best for your personal style. The goal is to use a method that will get you on track and keep you on track to accomplish your tasks.
Two: Prioritize Your Tasks
Rank your tasks in order of importance, starting from most important to least important. Complete the most important task first. Once you complete the most important task, the remaining tasks will seem easier to complete.
Three: Utilize Time Slots
Give each task a specific time slot that you will complete that task in. By assigning a time to a task you will be more likely to complete that task. You can refer to my Time Blocking 101 article for more information. Time blocking can help you get the most from your schedule.
Four: Less is More
Start with less tasks in order to ensure that you can complete each task. It is important to start with less tasks when you are trying to organize your to-do less. You will be more likely to complete your tasks when you start with less. Over time, you can gradually add more tasks to your to-do list.
Five: Focus on Your List
After you have made your to-do list, make sure you look at it. Making your to-do list is the easy part, completing your to-do list can’t be done without focusing on it. Continually check your list and work towards completing your tasks. I recommend looking at your list throughout the day.
